Frequently asked questions
I can't sign in, or I've forgotten my password
Use the "forgotten password" link on the sign-in screen to reset it by email. If you signed up another way and aren't sure how to get back in, email us and we'll sort it out.
Location isn't working, or I've denied permission
Gather only asks for your location when you accept a meetup invite, so it can work out a fair place to meet, it's never tracked in the background. If you've denied location permission, you can turn it back on for Gather in your phone's settings, or set a location manually when you accept an invite instead.
I'm not getting notifications
Check that notifications are enabled for Gather in your phone's settings, and that they're turned on in your Gather notification preferences. If both are on and you're still not getting them, email us with your device type so we can dig in.
How does Gather choose where to meet?
Gather works out a fair midpoint based on where everyone in the meetup is starting from, then ranks nearby venues by travel time across walking, cycling, and public transport, not just distance on a map. Recommendations use third-party map and venue data, so always double check opening hours before you set off.
How do I add friends or create a group?
You can add friends by searching for them in the app, if they've made themselves searchable, and create a group from your friends list to make planning meetups with the same people easier next time.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to your account settings and choose delete account. You'll be asked to type "DELETE" to confirm. This permanently removes your account and cascades across your data; see our privacy policy for the detail.
Reporting a bug or giving feedback
Gather is in beta, so bug reports and feedback are genuinely useful to us. Email support@letsgather.social with what happened, what you expected instead, and your device and app version if you know them. Screenshots help a lot.
